*obviously not a Possessed Hand Film and we own no rights to it, this is only a review and critique
Kung Fu movies started their heyday in the 70's but by the 90's it not only didn't matter if you were good at acting or if the plot was bad, you didn't even need to be good at Martial Arts. Enter Julia Roberts brother Eric and real Martial Artists in Vegas and Wayne Newton as a bad guy and you have the sequel nobody wanted in Best of the Best 2. I am Eaton Hass and let's get to it.
Best of the Best was a low budget film with Eric Roberts who can't do Martial Arts but at least he's better at that than acting, James Earl Jones who must have needed to pay a tax bill or something, and Phillip Rhee who at one time was a bodyguard for John McEnroe is a great Martial Artist. Best of the Best 2 picks up with the orginal team of actors living in Vegas when the team screw up, the late great Chris Penn who also doesn't know Martial Arts, gets himself killed in Wayne Newton's octagon of hell.
The plot is typical 90's but at least it is only the bad dialogue that makes you a little queasy. However, like all these movies its just filler until somebody gets their ass kicked and when Rhee starts going to town you can see he is a bad ass in real life as well. The highlight of the flick is two things (other than Rhees bad assness): 1. Phillip's brother Simon on a bad ass flying kick taking out three guys at once and 2. Wayne Newton who was born to play bad guys stealing every scene he is in. Why he didn't have more roles is beyond me.
